Winter weather can feel stressful, so I escaped work and went to Hokkaido for skiing, treating myself to one night at the newly opened Sapporo Stream Hotel (opened in 2024).
The hotel is right in the busy Susukino area, with easy shopping and transport — a perfect place to relax and take a break.
This hotel is a new flagship brand from Tokyu Hotels, rated 4-star, with 436 guest rooms across many floors.
The design mixes Hokkaido style with a modern, stylish look, offering city convenience while still feeling local.
The hotel is located on floors 7 to 18 of the Cocono Susukino complex. Downstairs, you’ll find many shops and Susukino Subway Station, making it very convenient for getting around.
In a short time, this hotel has gained very high reviews for Sapporo free travel.
Both Agoda and Booking give it scores over 9, which is really impressive!
I personally had a great time shopping here — I visited sock shops and accessory stores. I even hesitated over a pair of unique earrings, but sadly didn’t have time to come back and buy them.
After this trip, I realised that when travelling to places you can only reach by plane, if you see something you really like, don’t think too long — once you miss it, you probably won’t come back for it.
For travellers looking for a stylish, comfortable hotel with great transport, this is a Sapporo hotel well worth adding to your list.
The only downside is that only Premium floor guests can use the private lounge, spa, and sauna. Guests staying on other floors don’t have access to these facilities.

There is also a seating area and a guest supplies corner, where travellers can freely take items like tea bags and bath amenities if needed.

Sapporo Stream Hotel – British-Style Guest Rooms with Wooden Touches
The room design focuses on wooden elements and minimal style. The lighting is a little dim, with grey and white tones mixed throughout the space.
The room has a sofa and a table, plus a window. We used this window to check if it was snowing outside, and in the early morning, we finally saw the snow fall!
There are USB sockets on both sides of the bed, which is very thoughtful.
Travellers don’t need to worry about power outlets and can easily charge their phones.
The room also comes with Wi-Fi, a TV, and a Bluetooth speaker.
There are plenty of hangers in the wardrobe, which makes it easy to hang clothes neatly — a really nice touch.
The room provides black leather slippers, and for guests who are worried about hygiene, disposable slippers are also available.
There is a full-length mirror right at the entrance of the room, which is a very thoughtful feature for people who care about their outfits.
Because we booked a room without breakfast, we bought bread or instant noodles from a convenience store the night before, and had a simple breakfast in the room with tea.
This is when having a sofa and table becomes super important!
Overall, the stay felt like a warm and cosy space, combined with thoughtful design and excellent transport access. For travellers looking to add a great option to their Sapporo hotel list, Sapporo Stream Hotel is a fantastic choice.

Sapporo Stream Hotel – Compact and Refined Japanese-Style Bathroom

The bathroom keeps a small and refined Japanese-style design.
Strictly speaking, it’s not a wet–dry separated bathroom. It uses a bathtub with a shower curtain, so water doesn’t splash onto the floor when you shower.
Most Japanese hotels I’ve stayed in give me a feeling like being in an airplane bathroom — small and a bit cramped.
The shower water pressure is stable, which is really important when travelling — being able to take a good shower matters!
The bathroom amenities include messages about “caring for the environment.” If you need items like a razor, you can pick them up at the 7th-floor lobby.
The toilet is another one of those bidet toilets that I always get confused by — just press “Flush” and you’ll be fine.

After checking in at night, it’s only a 5-minute walk to the lively Ramen Street. Ramen lovers can choose a shop based on noodle firmness and soup richness, using the map signs at the entrance to find the perfect bowl.
On the walk back to the hotel, we also saw many host club signs — so many shops display photos of their male hosts.
It feels like a different kind of cultural sight in Japan.
Tanukikoji Shopping Street is also nearby, with drugstores, late-night dessert buffets, Donki, and more.
There’s also a Uniqlo inside a department store, perfect for shopping and buying clothes.
