Glory Wabi Sabi｜Accommoation in Thailand｜Top Choice in Chiang Mai! Great Value Stay with Relaxing Minimal Concrete Style

On this trip to Chiang Mai, I stayed near the Old City for six days, and one of the hotels was the four-storey Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel.

There are two main popular areas in Chiang Mai — Nimman Street, near the airport, and the Old City, near the river. Both areas are full of places to stay and interesting attractions.

Most of the food spots, markets, and places I wanted to visit were around the Old City, so I chose to stay there. The hotels I picked this time were all near the north and east parts of the Old City.

With a room rate under 2,000 THB per night, Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel offers amazing value for money. Its great location, nice environment, good breakfast, and easy access to shops make it a perfect choice for family trips, friends, or couples visiting Chiang Mai.

Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel – Simple Grey & White Style with 24-Hour Front Desk

The Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel in Chiang Mai has a strong design sense, mixing white and grey tones that create a clean and modern look. From the lobby to the rooms, everything keeps the same stylish vibe — a mix of minimalist and casual concrete-style design, making it very comfortable to stay in.

The 24-hour front desk is super convenient, so travellers don’t have to worry about check-in time. During my stay, the staff were always friendly and helpful.

Glory Wabi Sabi is not far from where I stayed before — Arun Dara Villa.

One is inside the Old City wall, and the other is just across the moat, outside the city.

Both areas have their own advantages! From Glory Wabi Sabi, it takes only 10 minutes on foot to reach a local roadside market where the famous Chang Phueak Pork Leg Rice is located.

The Chiang Mai RTC Smart Bus started running at the end of 2023, but the online maps seem different from each other, and the official website doesn’t show a clear route map like the Taipei MRT.

So, I can’t give accurate information yet — it’s safer to double-check in Thai if you can read it.

For now, I recommend using private transfers or simply booking a GRAB (similar to Uber in Taiwan) — it’s the easiest way to get to the hotel with your luggage.

Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel – Comfortable Room True to the Photos

The room has all the basic amenities: a TV, wardrobe and hangers, safe box, tea bags and kettle, paid snacks, work desk, free Wi-Fi, and slippers.

I was a bit worried that the photos might be misleading — you know, those wide-angle shots that make the room look huge — but luckily, it looked just like the pictures in real life! XD

Only one side of the bed has a power socket, so two people can’t charge their phones at the same time. If you like using your phone while charging, bring a cable longer than 2 metres.

At the entrance, there’s a small sitting area, and behind the door is an open wardrobe made of natural wooden poles, with only two hangers provided — just the basic amount.

The sofa is simply a corner seat with cushions, not very comfortable to sit on, but it’s good enough for travellers who bring back food and need a place to sit and eat.

At the end of the bed, there’s a work desk with free tea and water, plus paid snacks and instant noodles.

Of course, the prices are higher than at convenience stores, but since Chiang Mai is quite affordable, it’s only a few baht more.

The room looks exactly the same as in the photos — 100% match! My boyfriend really liked this hotel and thought it was super comfortable!

Glory Wabi Sabi Hotel – Bathroom with Separate Wet and Dry Areas

• Toiletries: Bath towels and hand towels, disposable toothbrush set, razor, shower cap, body wash, and shampoo.

One of the main reasons we liked Glory Wabi Sabi was its bathroom design. The grey and white tones look simple and clean — a real test of how well the room is maintained.

The bathroom uses frosted glass with black metal accents. To make the room feel more spacious, the door is designed at an angle, separating the sink and toilet area from the shower space inside.

It’s a true wet-and-dry separation, so you don’t have to worry about the floor getting wet after a shower. There’s also a glass door for the shower area (though I didn’t get a photo of it).

Breakfast and the swimming pool are located behind the beautiful lobby on the first floor — you’ll see them right after stepping out of the lift!

Breakfast is served as a buffet, offering Thai dishes, toast with jam, steamed buns, drinks, and salad. The highlight is the made-to-order eggs — you can choose your own toppings, and the staff will cook them fresh and bring them to your table.

Thailand is famous for its Thai milk tea, but this hotel’s breakfast didn’t have any! Oh no — milk tea lovers will be disappointed.

Luckily, there’s milk and black tea bags available, so you can make your own fresh milk tea by hand.

There were several flavours of yoghurt, but they were placed on the table without cooling, not in a small fridge. Since my stomach is quite sensitive, I decided not to take any yoghurt with jam this time.

The pool next to the breakfast area is open only from 2-5 p.m., which feels a bit short. The indoor pool is also a bit dark for photos, so if you’re hoping to take bright and sunny vacation-style pictures by the pool, this might not be the best spot.

Would I recommend “Glory Wabi Sabi”?

A great stay for travellers who love night markets nearby — perfect for solo travellers, couples, friends, or families. It’s also suitable for trips with elderly parents, as the hotel has a lift, so there’s no need to carry luggage up the stairs.

With a 24-hour front desk, you don’t have to worry about check-in times affecting your travel plans.

The only downside is that there’s no bathtub, so you can’t enjoy a relaxing soak!
