This boutique hotel, newly opened in 2023, has a calm Japanese-inspired design from the outside to the inside. Every stay includes free parking, 24-hour friendly front desk service, and a women-only hot bath. Plus, you can enjoy great food at the nearby Shilin Night Market, giving you a comfortable break even during a busy Taipei trip.

Working hard every day is so that, when payday comes at the start of the month, you can reward yourself with a little trip! So choosing a comfortable and stylish hotel becomes an important decision.

I even wrote an article before — TOP 10 Solo Traveller Hostels|Best Backpacker Stays Near MRT Stations in Taipei for Under NT$1,000 (in Mandarin) — to record the places I’d stayed and the ones still on my list.

But after Taiwan reopened its borders post-pandemic, my Taipei accommodation needs changed to two people + free parking. Recently, I’ve been staying at Jiantan Puri Hotel, a brand-new hotel opened in 2023 in Shilin District. Every stay there has been a really great experience.

I usually come out from Jiantan MRT Station, walk through Shilin Night Market, and then head back to Boutech Jiantan Hotel.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel is positioned as a boutique hotel, with regular prices around NT$2,000, which is very good value. During summer, the price goes up to over NT$3,000, so it loses a bit of its advantage — at that time, it may be better to stay somewhere else in central Taipei.

I’ve stayed at Boutech Jiantan Hotel twice, and both stays were great. It truly deserves its title as a 2023 & 2024 Agoda Traveller Award winner. The hotel has 18 floors, and from the exterior to the public spaces, it carries a calm, Japanese-style atmosphere.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – Friendly and Helpful Front Desk Staff

The front desk offers 24-hour service, and staff in Taiwan are always very friendly. One day, a guest who checked out more than 30 minutes late kept arguing about the extra charge, and the front desk staff patiently repeated the same explanation again and again.

Travellers, please don’t make things difficult for the staff.

There are a few chairs placed at the entrance of the hotel, and I always see guests sitting outside enjoying a slow, relaxing moment.

Even though it’s right in the middle of a busy city, walking up to the hotel somehow gives me a holiday-like feeling.

Jiantan Puri Hotel uses warm brown tones to create a calm, Japanese-style atmosphere. The front desk and lighting feature stylish, well-designed furniture, giving the hotel a refined and elegant feeling.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel– Location & Parking Information

  • Bus: Dà Nán Rd. Intersection Stop
  • MRT: Jiantan Station (Taipei MRT)
  • Taxi: 55688 台灣大車隊(Android / iOS), Uber
  • Parking: Limited free parking for hotel guests

It takes about 10 minutes on foot to walk from Jiantan MRT Station to Jiantan Puri Hotel, and you can also walk over from the famous Shilin Night Market.

For travellers not familiar with Taipei buses, I recommend taking the MRT, and you can even enjoy a walk through the night market to buy some snacks before heading back to the hotel.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – Services & Facilities

  • Facilities:
Self-service breakfast, hot bathhouse, café, ATM, lift, self-service laundry, free parking, key card access for the lift.
  • Note:
Services and facilities may change over time. Please contact the hotel for the most up-to-date information.

The facility I use the most is the free parking, but the coolest part is that the hotel has a women-only hot bath where you can enjoy a relaxing soak. Reservation is required! At the moment, there is no men’s bathhouse available.

For girls who love hot baths, note that it’s closed on Mondays. On all other days, you can book a time slot to visit.

Having a hot bathhouse inside a Taipei hotel feels just like being in Japan — super cool!

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – Stylish Art-Inspired Double Room

  • The room includes: a TV, wardrobe with hangers, safe box, drinks and water, kettle, free Wi-Fi, and slippers.

Now for the highlight — the artsy, design-focused double room.

The whole space has a blue-grey tone, and the cutest part is the Taipei illustration above the bed.

Since it’s not taken with a wide-angle lens, you can’t see the full artwork in the photo — you’ll have to stay here to enjoy it yourself!

Both sides of the bed have power sockets, so charging is no problem — no need to fight for a spot!

The room is compact, so the TV is built into the wall to save space.

Each room also provides a mini version of a traditional Taiwanese market tote (not for taking home!), filled with classic Taiwanese canned drinks like winter melon tea.

For foreign travellers, it’s a fun little surprise — a lovely touch that makes the stay feel even better.

At the entrance, there’s an open-style wardrobe with three hangers provided.

The rack faces outward, which is a bit unusual, but it’s perfect for hanging coats.

When I stayed there, the weather was still cold, so I hung my padded jacket there.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – Bathroom and Toilet in Two Separate Rooms

  • Wet and dry separation: Yes ✅
  • Toiletries: Bath towel and hand towel, body wash and shampoo
(Taiwan hotel do not actively provide disposable toothbrush sets, razors, shower caps, etc.)

The toilet, shower room, and sink are divided into three small areas, which feels very Japanese.

The first time I saw this type of layout was in a Japanese guesthouse.

In Taiwan and many other Asian regions, it’s common to have the toilet and shower in the same space, with only the shower area separated for wet–dry use.

On the left is the shower room, and on the right is a room with a bidet toilet — the toilet seat is warm.

Even though the space is small, it doesn’t feel crowded or uncomfortable.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – A Small Upgrade to the Deluxe Double Room

On my second stay, I was suddenly upgraded to a Deluxe Double Room.

The staff kept reminding me, “Just letting you know — the deluxe room doesn’t have a bidet toilet, so the seat won’t be warm.”

Hmm… honestly, I didn’t really mind whether the toilet seat was warm or not, haha!

The room size increased from 17 sqm / 183 sq ft / 5 ping to 20 sqm / 215 sq ft / 6–7 ping — only a little bigger, but it made a big difference in how spacious and comfortable it felt.

There was also a small round table, perfect for enjoying the food I brought back from the night market.

The bed was upgraded to a king-size 100 cm × 200 cm, so there’s no more fighting for space while sleeping.

Some people even go hiking nearby just to enjoy the planes and sky views — but this room happens to face the scenery directly. You can admire the beautiful view right from the bed!

The room still includes the same kettle, drinks, and water as the standard room — and yes, the traditional winter melon tea is also provided in this room type.

Boutech Jiantan Hotel – Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

At Shilin Night Market, I finally found an amazing watermelon shaved ice shop called 花藏雪 手作雪氷. It’s perfect for cooling down in summer.

In autumn and winter, I really recommend the old shop 海友十全排骨. They sell long pieces of herbal pork ribs — I love those ribs with just a bit of meat that are easy to bite! The soup is cooked in clay pots and tastes sweet and rich.

There is also a spicy stinky tofu place I often visit. It tastes like a small hotpot — steamed stinky tofu with glass noodles. Super delicious, highly recommended!

Next time, I’ll share more about the common lunch and dinner foods Taiwanese people love.

For foreign visitors, I suggest trying plum tomatoes (tomatoes with sour plum powder).

As for candied fruit at Shilin Night Market, I haven’t found a shop I like yet — better try it somewhere else.

Would I recommend “Boutech Jiantan Hotel”?

Yes — it is currently our favourite place to stay in Taipei City. It’s great for solo travellers, couples, and friends.

For trips with elders, it’s better to drive, as the 10-minute walk from the MRT might feel tiring for them.

For family trips with young children, they may feel bored, so you’ll need to bring your own toys or activities to keep them entertained.
